Feeling Better

Yesterday, Will and I woke up at the usual time and had a pretty normal morning. As the day went on, though, I noticed that he just wasn't himself. He started laying his head on my lap and acting tired before naptime, which he never does. That afternoon, he started feeling warmer, so I took his temperature and it was 104.3! Matt is working nights so he slept all day. We were so thankful he was able to call his work and tell them he'd be late, so that he could go with us to the doctor. We got him in to see the Pediatrician within the hour.

His only symptom was the fever, so the doctor tried several things. She swabbed his nose for Influenza and it was negative and checked his throat for strep, which was also negative. So then we had to take him to the hospital for a chest x-ray. It showed pneumonia in both lungs! We were pretty surprised since he had no cough.

We really have to watch him, because it takes a lot for him to act sick. In the hospital, he was running up and down the hallways, smiling and waving to people! He took his first dose of Augmentin last night and woke up this morning (at 4!) feeling much better with no fever. So thankful our sweet boy is getting better. Please pray for continued improvement. This was quite a scare for us.

Today, Will pretty much got to do whatever he wanted. As I swept and mopped the kitchen floor, he decided he wanted to take his baggie of goldfish and eat them under this table. So that's exactly what he did. Good thing I needed to vacuum anyway!
Growly bear under the table!
Still growly...
Pause for a goldfish break..

Sharing a soggy one with Mommy.
Every evening, Will and I wake up Daddy for work. Before it's time to go in, Will frequently points at the bedroom door and says, "Da?" Matt has been working 12-13 hours per night, so he's pretty much been a robot since we got back from Christmas break. He works.. and he sleeps... and that's about all he has time for! We will all be happy when he is back on days so he can have a little break!! We are so very thankful for such a hard-working Daddy. The few minutes we get with him is the highlight of both our days!
He loves to hug Daddy's head to help him wake up.

He also likes to pull on his hair and poke his eyes and nose, unfortunately.

  1. So glad he's feeling better! I'm glad he doesn't let illness get him down. Makes it much easier on everybody!
