Kitchen Demo!

So, our house has been on the market for about a month now with no offers. We've been getting feedback from our realtor on comments people have made who have viewed our home. Most of the people looking at our house are close to our age and they think that our kitchen is too outdated.
Specifically, most people don't like our parquet flooring, which we never really cared for either. We called another realtor yesterday, who also has a degree in interior design. She feels that if we put down tile floors, the house may sell more quickly. She also thinks that matching appliances would help tremendously.

So.... we've chosen tile from the Home Depot and Matt has officially begun the demolition process in the kitchen! He's really into the project and looking forward to seeing the results. Our friend, Tory, has a lot of experience with home renovation projects because he "flipped" houses in the past and just finished his own floors. He's been helping Matt quite a bit, too. We're removing the parquet flooring in the kitchen and entryway, and the laminate floors in the dining room. We're also putting in a stainless stove and dishwasher to match our refrigerator. I've posted our old appliances on Craigslist, hoping to recoup some of the cost.

Please pray that this helps us sell our house!!

Above is a "before" shot of the laminate flooring in the dining room.

Here is the tile we're thinking of using. Our realtor/decorator friend is stopping by tomorrow to help us choose from three different colors of tile.

  1. Can't wait to see the finished project! Will is looking like a little man! He reminds me so much of Samuel last summer. Their hair even grows the same way. Good job on the house, we hope it sells soon!

  2. Love the tile! Can't wait to see the finished floor. BTW, Home Depot should take your Lowe's coupon.
