It's been awhile since I've entered the blogosphere, so we've got a bit of catching up to do. Most recently, we celebrated Will's birthday with a quiet party at home and went to the Harvest Festival at church for Halloween. Will is currently obsessed with anything Toy Story, and asked if he could be Woody for Halloween. So of course, Anna had to be Jesse. He asked me if I could be Bullseye (the horse), but somehow, I couldn't find the time to get that costume together ;)
Here's Jesse's hat and red yarn wig. She actually kept it on a lot longer than I thought she would.
This isn't Anna's costume, but I thought I'd post a picture since she looks so cute in it. I bought this costume at a garage sale for $1, and sold it on E-bay.

On Will's birthday, I took him to the grocery store and let him pick out a cake mix and frosting. He chose the confetti one with sprinkles, of course. We also got a Toy Story balloon at the dollar store. He was so excited. He told everyone that walked past us in the grocery store, "This is my cake and it's my birthday."
Will's cake, gifts and Toy Story themed birthday banner.
I had to get this pic because I thought it was cute. She spilled some milk on the rug, and without me asking, got a kitchen towel and attempted to wipe it up!

Blowing out the candles. We sprung for the Buzz Lightyear from Wal-Mart because he's so into it.
He moved to the side and let Buzz have his pillow.
This is Auntie Penny, helping the kids "fish" for candy at our harvest festival.
I was cooking dinner, and Will said, "This is my sister mom, she's my best friend."
Then they moved to the chair and he said, "Come take a picture of us, mom." So of course, I had to!
We also have some news that Matt and I are pretty excited about. I think I mentioned in a previous post, Matt is on the board of Malama Pono, a health service group on Kauai. He has initiated a program that is aiming to eliminate Hepatitis B from the island of Kauai. They are working with local churches in an effort to reach people that otherwise may not seek medical care. He also came up with the idea to use electronic medical records at the hospital to identify people who should be tested. When a physician opens the chart of a person who hasn't been tested, a box pops up, recommending a simple blood test. The goal is to identify and diagnose as many people as possible, and then refer them to medical facilities where they can receive treatment. This could impact the lives of hundreds of people here on Kauai, and possibly thousands if it continues elsewhere. Physicians in Oahu are already saying they are interested in taking part in the project as well. There are even people on the mainland taking an interest in this endeavor, which means if this takes off, the impact could be huge. He's had some really great ideas, and I look forward to seeing what will happen with this project. And of course, I'm proud of my husband and how many people could be Hepatitis free because of his vision!
Yay for new pictures! Will is such a good big brother. Great job on the costumes and I need some advice on how you keep those bows in her hair. Sadly our bow days are over for the time being.:)
ReplyDeleteYay for the new post! Sweet little buddies. Awesome news for Matt! Way to go!
