1st Corvette Project

Mom and Dad flew out Saturday and arrived on Kauai at 10:00pm. It was also the first day off I had in 12 days, so I took the opportunity to get some stuff done on the car that I've been meaning to do since I first got it. I started taking things apart and when I stepped back and realized who torn apart everything was I took a couple shots to document it. First I took out the seats (which seemed a little crazy to me, but it was just 4 bolts each). Then I took apart the emergency brake cover, center console, and center gauge console. After everything was done, I got it all put together the correct way (I think...) before mom and dad flew in. Jerry Burns would be proud. :)

Here's a list of what I did:
1. adjusted lid in the compartments behind the driver's seat - wouldn't close, screws loose and rattled, also lubricated the hinge
2. Replaced rear view mirror - stained, ugly markings that I couldn't remove
3. replaced pull handles on both doors - color didn't match rest of interior (yellow instead of tan)
4. replaced leather shift boot - worn and damaged
5. Drilled hole in console to run wire from ash tray (which won't be used) to back of stereo (to be added later), that way I can connect and play music from my iPhone/iPod
6. Replaced both springs under the seats to repair the seat adjustment leaver mechanism - also the passenger seat was less worn, had better padding so I put it in the driver's seat. Comfy!
7. adjusted emergency brake indicator light - had to drill new hole in metal framing to re-position sensor; now light turns off properly when brake handle released
8. Oriented myself to wiring, harness, switches, lights, etc. for possible future projects !!!
